Spearmint
Spearmint has lax, tapering spikes of flowers similar to peppermint flowers and sharply serrated leaves. The aroma and taste of spearmint are similar to those of peppermint but less strong. Principal use of spearmint is as a flavoring agent, not as a digestive aid. Easily confused with peppermint, which owes its therapeutic utility to menthol, which is not found in spearmint.
